The Foundation Stage Curriculum covers 7 areas of learning, 3 of which are Prime Areas and underpin everything that we do. These are Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication and Language. In addition, there are 4 Specific Areas which are taught daily - Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
Mrs Lewis and Mrs Flood ensure that there are plenty of opportunities for children to explore and make sense of the world around them through well planned and varied play activities, both indoors and outdoors. This is a crucial part of learning that often provides the most memorable and meaningful experiences. They also enjoy teaching through themes and indeed following the interests of the children. Popular topics have included The Gingerbread Man, Celebrations, Out & About, Polar Explorers and Rescue. Whilst these are certainly much loved topics, they can of course change depending on any current cohort!
